South Tahoe Snags

On the California side of South Shore Lake Tahoe there is an area where something had killed a large grove of phone.  The bleached wood and bright snow make for a great contrast with the clear high altitude skis of Lake Tahoe.

Miller Lake

This is a small lake that sits off of the Rubicon Trail west of Lake Tahoe.  I love all the small alpine lakes that are throughout the Sierra.  It is nice that there is always enough of them so you can find some piece and quite by one.

Winter Aspen on Mt. Rose

I think aspen are one of my favorite trees.  They are beautiful in all stages of their life.

Color on Rose

This photograph was taken in the early morning before the sunrise.  The cool morning colors and the striking color of the fall aspen trees make a great contrast.  This was taken right off of Mt. Rose Highway at the road for the Mt. Rose Slide Side ski area.  There is a huge grove of aspen along the highway in this area and most years it is a fantastic show for autumn.

The Final Fall Color

This old Forest Service cabin sits near North Star Ski Resort and I pass it often on the way to Lake Tahoe.  I have enjoyed seeing it thought many seasons it and the grove of aspen change throughout the year.

Oak Alley Plantation

Three hundred years ago some unknown person planted two rows of oak trees leading away from the Mississippi River in Louisiana.  Later someone else came along and built the plantation house.  Now Oak Alley Plantation is one of the most picturesque plantation along the Mississippi.
